Setting up two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication is one of the cheapest ways to protect a financial account. We strongly recommend the authenticator app option over SMS.

Authenticator app (recommended)

1. Open Profile → Security → Two-factor.
2. Tap Set up authenticator app.
3. Scan the QR code with Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy, or any TOTP app.
4. Enter the 6-digit code from the app to confirm.
5. Save the recovery codes somewhere offline (printed or password manager).

SMS fallback

Also available, but vulnerable to SIM-swap attacks. We send a 6-digit code to your registered phone number on every new-device sign-in.
